Jish’s July Album Rotation

Welcome to Jish’s Monthly Album Rotation. Four albums I’ve been listening to the previous month and my reviews of them. Some new, some old, some good, some bad. A mix of genres with some albums coming with tons of hype, and some that not as many people have heard of. Here is July 2021.

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (2021)
Tyler, The Creator

Not exactly continuing down the path of IGOR, nor a full return to the abrasive sound of Tyler, The Creator’s early work, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST is a marriage of Tyler’s vintage energy and matured musical palette with a European island destination wedding. Read the review here.

ALPHA (2021)
Charlotte Day Wilson

Charlotte Day Wilson approaches the daunting hurdle of a debut studio album with level headedness and a precise idea of what she wants her first major project to be. Though not the most innovative at points for Wilson personally, ALPHA builds upon the Toronto singer-songwriter’s 2016 EP CDW and 2018 EP Stone Woman, and is an apt representation for the larger music world of the unique sound that her fans have been raving about for years. Home Video (2021)
Lucy Dacus

Home Video is a nostalgic ode to Lucy Dacus’ youth. Like anything nostalgic, there are hits and misses and this record is no different. Read the review here.

Sling (2021)
Clairo

Rising songstress Clairo looks to move on from her bedroom pop sound with her sophomore record Sling. With the help of super-producer Jack Antonoff, she achieves just that with a record that stylistically is almost nothing like Immunity. Read the review here.
